During June – September 2008, the Association for the Promotion of Women in Romania is organising the national campaign „You have the right to know!” , activity which is part of the project “PROACTIVE NGO - Promotion, Action and Instruction for NGOs” financed by the European Union through Phare 2005 Programmme Consolidation of Democracy in Romania – Component 2 - Democracy, human rights, democratic state, independence of justice and fight against corruption.
The campaign „You have the right to know!” aims to inform more than 1000 NGOs in the country regarding the importance of monitoring and advocacy activity in influencing the decision-taking process, inducing legislative change, raising transparency in public institutions and improving public policies which concern various social disadvantaged groups.
The campaign is organised with the support of the 15 NGOs participants in the project. Posters and flyers will be diseminated to organisations that activate in the field of human rights; more than 2000 postal cards will be sent informing Romanian organisations about the role of monitoring and advocacy activity in the work of an ONG, and a 15 seconds video clip, promoting the message of the campaign, will be broadcasted on local television stations and the project web site..
During all this, the web site of the project www.ongproactiv.ro will be an open resource, providing thorough information and examples of good practices in the area, also providing consultancy services in monitoring and advocacy with the support of a discussion forum, which all interested organisations and individuals can join.
